About Stotras
Stotras are devotional hymns of praise composed by saints, sages, and devotees to glorify the various deities of the Hindu pantheon. The word “Stotra” comes from the Sanskrit root “stu” meaning “to praise.” These sacred verses are meant to be chanted or sung as a form of worship and meditation.
Stotras differ from Vedic mantras in that they are generally composed by known authors and are accessible to all, regardless of initiation or caste. They are an important part of the Bhakti (devotion) tradition and serve as a bridge between formal Vedic worship and personal devotional practice.
